THE COLLECTION

– favorites and surprises

Every day in the museum's opening hours

All year

In 2024, we present our permanent art collection through an entirely new exhibition that focuses, among other things, on periods such as national romanticism, mood painting, post-war, and contemporary art.

Our collection is a unique treasure, our rootstock. The permanent collection consists of a wide selection of Norwegian and Nordic art from the 19th century to the present day.

Aspects of the collection can be interpreted as a representation of Norwegian art history. At the same time including several different stories and surprises. The exhibition highlights subjects within nature, abstract, art in Lillehammer, the human face and photography. In addition, the collection houses several completely new works by Norwegian contemporary artists.

In the new collection you will be able to experience art from well known artists such as Johan Christian Dahl, Frits Thaulow, Harriet Backer, Carl Larsson, Edward Munch, Henrik Sørensen, Helene Schjerfbeck, Jakob Weidemann, Anna-Eva Bergman, Mette Tronvoll, Matias Faldbakken, Jana Winderen and many more.

Here you will find favourites, but also new trending purchases such as sound installations that allows for new experiences for the senses. Surprise yourself and discover your favourite pieces.
