In our permanent art collection, we explore Nordic art history, focusing on periods such as National Romanticism, mood painting, post-war art, and contemporary art.
Our permanent collection is a unique treasure, the foundation of the museum. t consists of a broad selection of Norwegian and Nordic art from the 19th century to the present day. Parts of the collection can be seen as a canon of Norwegian art history, offering many diverse stories and surprises. The exhibition highlights themes such as nature, abstraction, art in Lillehammer, the human face, and photography. Additionally, it includes several new works by Norwegian contemporary artists.
The collection exhibition features art by renowned artists such as Johan Christian Dahl, Frits Thaulow, Harriet Backer, Carl Larsson, Edvard Munch, Henrik Sørensen, Helene Schjerfbeck, Jakob Weidemann, Anna-Eva Bergman, Mette Tronvoll, and Matias Faldbakken.
